Two Christmases ago, my younger brother gave me the best gift ever- a 365 day calendar featuring quotes from the Dalai Lama. Each day brought me a moment with a new thought from the Dalai Lama. I saved the quotes that impacted me the most and put them in a scrapbook of inspirational clippings. My favorite quote, from Wednesday November 4th (2014), stays permanently on my fridge, as a daily reminder:
"There is only one important point you must keep in your mind and let it be your guide. No matter what people call you, you are just who you are. Keep to this truth. You must ask yourself how is it you want to live your life. We live and we die, this is the truth that we can only face alone. No one can help us, not even the Buddha. So consider carefully, what prevents you from living the way you want to live your life?"
I read this quote each day as a wonderful reminder to stay with my true self and to move towards contentment.
