Hi.

Welcome to my blog!  I document my life, in all it's messy imperfections.

I Couldn't Resist the Colors!

I Couldn't Resist the Colors!

Currently I have a job as a photo editor that I enjoy.  But, it wasn't all that long ago that I was working as a photo assistant- hauling heavy equipment, grabbing coffees, and cleaning up the trash after a shoot.  I was fortunate in that I worked with a lot of great people, but I did not feel fulfilled working as a photo assistant.

One of the things I hated most about assisting was not having the freedom to wear skirts and dresses.  It was easier to move around in jeans and a t-shirt as opposed to a skirt or dress.  That's one thing I love about my current job, I can dress up and do my hair and just generally feel good about my outfit which in turn helps me feel good about myself.  I love that fashion can help me feel better and lift my spirits.

I am sharing this photo of myself because I love this outfit and ironically I bought this pretty scarf on an assisting job several years ago.  I was working with a photographer in San Francisco and we were shooting lifestyles scenes in various locations, including parks, restaurants, and shops.  We ended early one afternoon, but hadn't yet been released to go home.  We were in the East Bay, on a street with a ton of shops.  While the photographer was talking with the client, I wandered into one of these shops, a clothing store, to look around.  I was instantly drawn to the colors on this scarf.  Even though it cost $80, which normally would've caused me to put it back, I couldn't resist it.  I didn't normally wear scarves at the time and it felt frivolous, but now I am so glad I did buy it.  It is perfect for Spring days when its sunny out, but not yet hot.  And I still love the colors.  I wonder if somewhere deep inside of myself, I knew I would make an exit from the land of assisting and have more opportunities to wear light scarves like this one, even if I didn't know what those opportunities looked like.
